Sara was packing a bag for herself to take with her for her trip down to Louisville, Kentucky. She kept changing her mind about if she wanted to do this or not. She knew that she should but she was so nervous. She didn’t think she was a great singer, but she thought positive thoughts because, she always tried to stay positive about everything that came her way.
Sara threw her bag into the trunk of her 2005 silver Ford Explorer, and she got into the driver’s seat and backed out of her driveway. While she was driving down the highway towards Kentucky she was trying to think of what song to sing in front of the four judges. She was mostly nervous about singing in front of Simon. She had watched some of the previous seasons of American Idol and he was always honest with the singers. She decided she wanted to sing a Hanson song, because Hanson was her favorite band of all time. She grew up listening to their music since she was 10, now she was 22, they’d been apart of her life for 12 years so it made sense for her to sing one of their songs for the judges. They were also the reason why she decided to do this in the first place.
She put in one of her Hanson cds, to help her decide which song she wanted to sing. She put it on the shuffle setting so the song would play in random order. The first song that she heard was “Blue Sky” and she thought it would be a great song to sing for the judges.
I'm blind with eyes wide open
My body's tired and broken
I want a taste of something, that doesn't leave me dry
This hope for answered questions
As rare as true conviction
I stare into the distance, there is no truth in sight
Who can tell me why
Everybody's looking for a blue sky
Searching for an answer on a satellite
I know that there's got to be a blue sky out there to see
A blue sky waiting for me
I've seen the main attraction
I've felt the moment's passion
I won't be no soap box teacher, just taking your time
Just taking your time
Who can tell me why
Everybody's looking for a blue sky
Searching for an answer on a satellite
I know that there's got to be a blue sky out there to see
A blue sky
Everywhere I go, it feels like I'm always searching for something
'Til I know for sure, I'll be right here waiting for something
More, more, for something more, for something more
Everybody's looking for a blue sky
Searching for an answer on a satellite
I know that there's got to be a blue sky out there to see
Somewhere there's a blue sky waiting
Everybody's looking for a blue sky
Searching for an answer on a satellite
I know that there's got to be a blue sky waiting for me
A blue sky

After driving for five hours she finally found herself pulling into the parking lot of the venue where the Louisville auditions were being held. It was around 7:30am and she was surprised to see that there were already quite a few people there already. She looked at herself in the mirror, her blonde hair was pulled back into a messy bun and she was wearing grey sweat pants and a Chicago Bears t-shirt, she figured she should at least put jeans on and maybe a nicer shirt, she’d do her make-up while she waited in line. She got out of her car grabbed her purse, and then she went back to the trunk opened her small bag and pulled out a pair of dark blue capris, a black belt and a pink tank top, she was already wearing pink flip flops on her feet. She didn’t know where she should change, she didn’t want to change in the car, because somebody might see her, and her windows weren’t that dark. She looked at her surroundings and she saw a porta potty.
“Damn it.” Sara said to herself. She really didn’t want to get dressed in a porta potty, but she sure as hell wasn’t going to sing in front of the judges the way she was dressed at the moment and there’s a chance she’d be on tv, so she wanted to look decent. She grabbed her clothes and locked her car before walking over to the porta potty. She looked around to make sure nobody would see her going in with the way she looked. She opened the door of the awful thing, but it was a little bigger than she was used to and it only smelled a little bit.
She finished getting dressed and she used the bathroom as well. She opened the door of the porta potty and the next thing she knew she had bumped into someone. She looked up and she saw the most adorable man she had ever seen. He was only a little taller than she was, he wore a brown and white plaid shirt, jeans and sneakers. His eyes were a chocolate brown, and then he smiled at her.
“I’m so sorry, are you ok?” He asked her.
“Yes, I’m fine. Are you ok?” Sara asked him.
“Yes.” He noticed that she was carrying clothes with her. “Do you usually get dressed in porta pottys?” He smiled again.
“Oh yes, I do it all time.” Sara joked. “No I’m just kidding.”
He laughed. “My name is Kris by the way.”
“It’s nice to meet you. I’m Sara.” She said.
“Do you want to wait in line with me?” Kris asked.
“Sure, I just need to take these clothes back to my car.” Sara smiled at him before she went back to her car to put her clothes back into the bag.
Sara walked back over to where Kris was waiting for her and they walked to find the end of the line together. Sara thought today would be a boring one for the most part, but suddenly it was already getting interesting.
